The process collecting the plant samples for this research has not been completed. Species such as the indigo and mustard will be yet collected.
On the other hand, beside the analysis of the information collected so far, we hope to contribute to the phytochemical characterization of the medicinal material collected. In order to do so, we will use thin layer chromatography (TLC).
Chromatography is a physical method of separation that allows qualitative and even quantitative description of the metabolites (bioactive compounds) present in the medicinal samples.
In the right hand picture you can see a TLC sample made from the extracts of six plant species. Each color represents a different secondary metabolite.
